I think that even in nonforprofit work, we can forget what we have a passion for, why we started. Mine is end of life care and I am looking for somewhere where I can continue making a difference in the lives of people who are ill, dying, and their families.

I have 3 years experience as a journalist, one year teaching English abroad and a determination to break into the nonprofit sector. I will work in nearly any field and will move anywhere in the country. I believe that my media experience will probably be most useful in PR, but is there somewhere else I should look? I've also considered taking a paralegal course, or a grant-writing class. Does any of this sound like a good idea. Right now, I'm just freelance writing and trying to get more actual volunteer work under my belt. I've also considered doing a year of service with AmeriCorps. What will help the most with getting me into the nonprofit sector? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
